FiBL - Research Institute for Organic Agriculture

FiBL is one of the world’s leading organic farming research and technology transfer centres dedicated to sustainable agriculture with more than 300 staff members worldwide. FiBL’s research team works together with farmers and farmers’ organisations to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to boost organic agriculture.

FiBL provide scientific expertise and practical advice on all issues of concern to the organic farming and food sector, especially at the interface between research and agricultural practice. One key activity is the communication and dissemination of innovations, practical-oriented outcomes as well as scientific outcomes.

Role in the project

FiBL France, together with the Dryland Agroforestry Centre (DAC), is co-leading Work Package 6: Knowledge sharing and innovation up-scaling strategies, and is responsible for the communication, dissemination and exploitation strategies in the TransforMed project.

FiBL France accompanies and coordinates knowledge-sharing and scientific popularisation events, such as Open Field Days for local stakeholders and project partners, territorial or national conferences and national caravans. Finally, the institute is responsible for the communication aspects through social media, newsletters and press releases, working closely with local partners to identify target audiences.

As a complementary dissemination tool, FiBL&DAC produces a range of evidence-based learning and training materials that are made available to local stakeholders and farmers' organisations. Radio programmes and learning videos, as well as a full-length documentary, will be added to the set of resources to promote knowledge dissemination.

In the project FiBL Germany is involved in several technical tasks in WP1, WP2, WP3 and WP5.

FiBL Germany is co-leading the technical descriptions of successful AFS experiences of each lighthouse, which will be used for restoration of further areas and dissemination. FiBL is further leading the selection of suitable areas for implementation of other proposed AFS using a desertification score. Further activities include networking and dissemination activities and supporting partners with data gathering for analyses.
