DAC - Dryland Agroforestry Center
The Dryland Agroforestry Center (DAC) aims at harnessing the potential of agroforestry in arid and semi-arid regions, with a special emphasis on the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Sahel regions. DAA’s mission is to bridge the gap between research and practice, promoting sustainable land management strategies that enhance resilience, biodiversity, and livelihoods in some of the world's most challenging environments. At the heart of DAC’s work lies agroforestry, a holistic approach that integrates trees, crops, and livestock on the same plot of land, optimizing their interactions for mutual benefit. DAC’s approach is action-oriented research that yields tangible results on the ground, actively engaging with farmers, local communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders, forming collaborative partnerships to co-design and implement agroforestry interventions that address real-world challenges.
Role in the project
